Costume for ?Court Lady in Arthur Sullivan's opera Princess Ida, designed by James Wade. 'Crown' of clear acetate, with bands at the sides rising high at the front and lower at the back into high graduated curving spikes, their edges softened by white 'feather' painting, and set with silver faceted beads and large decorative studs. From the sides hang four graduated rows of iridescent pearls.
Costume for Aesthetic Lady in Arthur Sullivan's opera Patience, designed by George Sheringham, Savoy Theatre, 1929. Headband of green felt with large triangular extensions at either end, set with flowers in off-white and occasional yellow felt with gold lame centres, along the band tiny flowers of off-white felt with yellow and small bead centres. Foliage on the extensions is of off-white felt one with a centre spine of pearls and crystal beads.
