Pair of ice skates, men's, 'The Caledonia', metal with leather heel strap, Germany for British market, 1890s.

Pair of metal skates; each has a leather strap for attaching to the ankle. Each has a nut, bolt and clamp mechanism for heel and width adjustment. On each skate, 'The Caledonia, Real German Make' is stamped on the side and upper, and 'Best Quality' is also stamped on the side. Made for right and left foot.
