Ganesha; Sculpture, bronze, 1800-1875, Deccan,India

A simply modelled sitting Ganesha. Small holes in his upper hands would have held missing attributes, his trunk dips to sweets in his lower left hand; the lower right is in abhaya mudra. A rat sits between his legs and cobra is wrapped around his belly. Brassy colour and little wear.

Transferred from the India Musaeum to the South Kensington Museum (now the V&A) in 1880.
