Cup and saucer of hard-paste porcelain painted in colours and gilded, Nymphenburg porcelain factory, Nymphenburg, ca. 1790-1799

Cup and saucer of hard-paste porcelain painted in colours and gilded. [Cup] Cup, cylindrical and with an angular loop handle. On the front reserved on a ground painted in dark grey and red is a rectangular panel enclosing the inscription 'Die Juzend und das Porcelain / O Mädchen! haben das gemein'. Round the rim is a border of fret pattern en grisaille. [Saucer] Saucer reserved on a ground painted in dark grey and red is a rectangular panel in the middle enclosing the inscription 'Sie sing so fleckenbos, asl Schhön / und wollen nicht beschmutzet seijn'. Round the rim is a border of fret pattern en grisaille.
