"Swatow"-type ware. Dish, porcelain painted in white slip on a pale blue ground, under clear glaze, China, Ming dynasty, 16th-17th century

Dish of porcelain, circular, painted in white slip in slight relief on a ground of pale blue slip. In the middle are three chrysanthemums amid foliage in a medallion. This is surrounded by conventional plant-forms. Round the rim is a narrow border of rosettes and star-like foliage on a continuous wavy stem.

Bought, £70 for C.738 to 743-1909.
