A photograph of a 16th century cabinet door, made in France from walnut wood, carved in relief with a scrolled cartouche enclosing an oval boss with a nude figure on it; the cartouche is surrounded by floral scrolls, lions' heads and a female mask.
The object in the photograph formed part of the collection of Emile Peyre (1824-1904), a notable Parisian collector of French Medieval and Renaissance artefacts. This object is now in the collection of National Museums Scotland (previously named the Museum of Science and Art, Edinburgh).
